Love & Lavender
Founded in 2020, Lake Hill Lavender is a family-owned business operated by my husband, Brian, and myself. While Brian was a midwest boy who grew up in Iowa, I spent my childhood on the west coast in Oregon, California, and Alaska. Both of us were raised in families that cherished gardening. Brian’s family farmed corn, beans, potatoes, and an array of flowers, and during high school, Brian spent countless hours on farms, walking beans and detasseling corn to earn extra money. These early experiences sparked his lifelong passion for planting and nurturing growth.
My upbringing was similarly rooted in gardening. Both my father and grandfather had a deep love for cultivating plants—whether it was growing fruits and vegetables in our gardens or experimenting with indoor plants. In California, we grew artichokes, and in Alaska, we used grow lights to help poinsettias bloom. These experiences ignited my passion for agriculture and outdoor work from a young age.
Both Brian and I have spent many years in education—myself as a teacher most recently in special education at a public middle school and Brian as a Director of Student Services. As we approach retirement, we wanted to find a way to combine our love for planting with our desire to help others. That is what led us to start Lake Hill Lavender.
The journey of preparing the land, planting the lavender, watching it grow, and creating our handcrafted products has been incredibly rewarding. Each item we make is carefully crafted in small batches, ensuring the highest quality and a personal touch in every step of the process. We are proud to offer a range of natural lavender products, from culinary lavender simple syrup and extract to aromatic linen sprays, bath salts, and sachets. These products are available for purchase at select events or through local delivery.
Looking ahead, we hope to expand the business and create job opportunities for people with disabilities, a cause close to our hearts. We also plan to donate a percentage of our profits to the Oregon Special Olympics, as part of our commitment to giving back to the community
